David Shire - The Taking of Pelham One Two Three

p-eat requested David Shire's Schoenbergian score for The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. I'd never heard of it, and now I think it's some kind of masterpiece. You be the judge.

knowby, you fucking rule! i love you x's ∞ for this one ! ! !
that's right it's a masterpiece, terse, to-the-point & not indulgent whatsoever.
If these sounds impress anyone else, see the film. it's equally great & readily available. See how films were made before edit-fucking & empty pizzazz.
they just don’t make 'em like this anymore.

Brilliant soundtrack and a great, great little film as well, if I am not mistaken the first with colour-coded criminals. I found a mint copy in Athens, Greece dirt cheap a week ago. Keep up the good work...

knowby,

this is the soudtrack to one of the funniest kidnapping - hostage situation movies - ever. The plot line and event itself is so well thought out with a knockout twist of an end. It is the sort of movie, if it were made today, would elicit screams of horror from the terror-fied masses of the neo-con Amerika.

i'll leave the middle stuff but the main title and end title pieces are damn good! i'd say David Shire was taking off some on Bernard Herrmann though working with a jazz idiom and atonality.
Thanks!

Brilliant score, but the download is only the half of it! Running time should be just over 30mins.
