Osvaldas Balakauskas - Ostrobothnian Symphony

Osvaldas Balakauskas (b. 1937) wrote his Ostrobothnian Symphony in 1989. The work is a fantastic texture piece of incredible weight and power, and also apparently an excellent study in musical techniques that fly way, way over my head.

The work is included on this disc, out of print but available from the Amazon Marketplace for around $30.

thank you for the balakauskas. i looked through my collection the last few days and finally dug up the piece i knew I had of the man.

i've enjoyed this symphony more than the other piece i'd heard by the man.

Aaahhh! And I would have opted for "Stimmen" from Vasks...

It's not online any more. Would you mind to re-up Balakauskas?

Balakauskas returns at last!

I miss the days of my childhood when I went looking for this treasure...sigh...it's been years since I came here begging for it, I cannot believe I am the one to finally put it back!
